Creating gender-responsive education in emergencies in Nigeria
Girls in Nigeria face multiple barriers to formal learning even in the best of times; these challenges are compounded in times of emergency, whether due to armed conflict, natural disasters, or epidemics. One way to ensure that girls’ learning is not disrupted during emergencies is to prioritize their needs and integrate gender-responsive and transformative approaches into Education in Emergency (EiE) planning. On November 30, Echidna Global Scholar, Edemawan Ossai, will lead a workshop to discuss strategies for governments in Nigeria to ensure that girls have access to quality, relevant, gender-responsive education - even in times of emergency.

Ossai will be joined by local and international actors for a dynamic and timely discussion. The workshop will also include opportunities for networking and audience interaction.

Nov 30, 2021 11:00 AM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)
